Marie-Lys Arnette joins the department as Professor of Egyptian Art and Archaeology

We are happy to announce that Marie-Lys Arnette will be joining our Department as Assistant Professor of Egyptian Art and Archaeology. She will assume her position on July 1, 2022. Marie-Lys received her PhD from the Sorbonne, and comes to us with a strong and broad background in Egyptology, with a special emphasis on Egyptian Language, Religion, Art History, Archaeology, and Museology. She has also acquired considerable experience in Egypt, particularly as a member of the Institut français d’archéologie orientale for four years (the accompanying image was taken at Deir el-Medina). Among her interests are gender studies, the role of food, the human body, and ancient games.

We are delighted that she has accepted this position, and we welcome her to Hopkins!
